Many of my clients are disabled, or are the parents of a disabled child or adult. For such persons, there are many sensitive issues to be addressed, such as: Does my disabled relative need the court protection of a guardianship? Are there alternatives by which I can make decisions for my disabled relative without involving court proceedings? What are the rights of my disabled relative for government benefits, and how can I assure that he or she receives those benefits? Guardianship may be an issue for the parents of children who are not disabled but simply too young to be legally of age. How do they leave their estates for the benefit of minor children? |
